The Social Justice Resource Center in collaboration with Interrobang Poets presents: "Spoken Movement: A Night of Performance ft. Porsha Olayiwola" on Monday, February 26, 2024 in Blackman Auditorium for Peace & Social Justice Week.

Porsha Olayiwola is a native of Chicago who writes, lives and loves in Boston. Olayiwola is a writer, performer, educator and curator who uses afro-futurism and surrealism to examine historical and current issues in the Black, woman, and queer diasporas. She is an Individual World Poetry Slam Champion and the founder of the Roxbury Poetry Festival. Olayiwola is the current poet laureate for the city of Boston.

The night will consist of two events, a poetry workshop held from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm led by Porsha, followed by an open mic from 7:00pm to 8:30pm with doors opening at 6:30pm.

Registration for the Writing Workshop is REQUIRED. Open Mic Performances will be prioritized through the registration below, and depending on how many acts register will determine day-of sign-ups. Walk-ins are welcome to attend the Open Mic Event.

You are free to attend one or both events! Please indicate as such in the form below.

This PSJW event is co-sponsored by the English Department, CAMD Center for the Arts, CAMD Center for Communication, Media Innovation & Social Change, and the John D. O'Bryant African American Institute.
