What can I expect at the Tournament?
When you sit down to play at a Prerelease tournament, you'll receive a Build & Battle Box containing a 23-card Evolution pack, which includes an exclusive foil promo card and is designed to give you a strong foundation for building a new deck. Each box also includes four 10-card booster packs from Sword & Shield. You'll use these cards, plus basic Energy provided by the Tournament Organiser, to construct your own 40-card deck. You'll get to keep all the cards from your Build & Battle Box, whether you use them in your deck or not.

All competitors will receive 3 additional booster packs from the new set after the Tournament as participation prizes, and the winner of the Tournament will also receive a selection of Pokemon League Promos (this is not a competitive Tournament and players are encouraged to have fun playing with the new cards).
What will I need to bing on the day?
You will need to bring a pack of 40 card sleeves (plus a few spares) to protect your cards while playing in the Tournament. Although highly recommended, this isn't essential. Sleeves will be available to purchase at AGO.

Please bring your own dice and counters as you would at any other Pokemon Trading Card Game event. Although there may be some spares available we cannot guarantee this on the day.

It's recommended you bring a playmat with you to protect your cards whilst playing.

Energy cards will be provided at the event for use in your Prerelease deck.

We suggest you bring any trades with you as other players may want to trade you for the new cards after the event!

Please note that space at AGO is at a premium, so where possible please bring only the essentials with you.
What are the rules?
Beyond the limitations to deck building (40-card deck, built from your Build & Battle Box exclusively) the rules are exactly the same as any other Pokemon Trading Card Game Tournament, aside from the fact that you are playing for 4 prizes instead of 6 to balance the smaller deck size.

This is a casual Tournament but we will still be enforcing the Play! Pokemon Organised Play Rules. If you are unfamiliar with the rules please feel free to read them on the Pokemon website: www.pokemon.com/uk/play-pokemon/about/tournaments-rules-and-resources

If you have never played the game before please familiarise yourself with how to play before you arrive - no additional time will be provided for you to learn before we begin.

The AGO Pokemon League runs every Saturday and we would be more than happy to teach you the basics at the League sessions, but there are other resources you can use to learn from home!

There are a series of videos available on the Pokemon website: www.pokemontcg.com/en-gb/how-to-play
And the Tutorial or Trainer Challenge on the Pokemon Trading Card Game Online are both great ways to learn: www.pokemon.com/uk/pokemon-tcg/play-online/download
Am I allowed to eat at AGO?
Yes! AGO has a wide selection of both hot and cold food and drink available to purchase. Outside food and drink (other than water) is not permitted on the premises. If you have any specific dietary requirements which mean you need to bring your own food please get in touch with the shop beforehand to confirm this.
