Liberty's Loves, a bereaved DIPG sibling pen pal program
Welcome to Liberty’s Loves, a DIPG sibling pen pal program for all bereaved DIPG siblings between 2-21 years of age, offered by the Love for Liberty Arnold-Simon DIPG Foundation.
We believe it’s important for bereaved DIPG siblings to foster strong connections to other bereaved DIPG siblings who understand what they have experienced and continue to go through.
All accepted applicants will receive an age-appropriate pen pal kit including stationery, pens, pencils, stickers, envelopes, stamps, and maybe even a few surprises! Some items may have Love for Liberty Arnold-Simon DIPG Foundation branding. No item is guaranteed.
Applicants under 18 must have parental permission and applications must be filled out by the parent and sibling together. All information is confidential except where needed to facilitate the pen pal connection.
Siblings are matched using factors such as but not limited to location, age group, age of DIPG sibling when they passed, common interests, gender, birth order, similarities in sibling's DIPG battle, and so forth including any preferences stated in the application.
There is no limit to the number of siblings in a family who can sign up to this program, but a different application will need to be filled out for each sibling. You may receive one kit for your family with items for all of the children.
Siblings can be anywhere in the world, but applicants may choose to only have a pen pal in their own country, and those outside the US may or may not receive a kit depending on postage costs.
Siblings over the age of 13 with parental permission may choose to decline the paper kit and connect with their pen pal over email or social media websites such as Facebook, Whatsapp, and Snapchat as well as via video calls such as Skype, Google Talk, and FaceTime.
To ensure the best chance of making a strong connection with a fellow DIPG sibling, siblings must commit to being a pen pal for at least one letter a month for six months, although we recommend for the best experience that each pen pal contacts the other more often. Anyone not meeting the minimum requirements may be suspended or removed from the program.
