What is the University Life Events Council?

The University Life Events Council provides programs and activities for all Columbia students that promote community, well-being, and inclusion & belonging. It is volunteer-based and includes representatives from Columbia's 17 schools. All Council events are free and open to all students from all schools and all campuses.
The Events Council is also a great way for students to get involved with campus life, meet other students from different schools, and gain valuable leadership experience.

Which positions are open for the 2024-2025 academic year?

  • Chairs of Production - The Chairs of Production create and share post-event surveys, track event participants, collect event photos, lead bi-weekly meetings, collaborate with events committees, create staffing plans, determine volunteer needs for events, and create and distribute debrief documents to Events Council committees.

  • Welcome Home Columbia Committee - This committee plans and implements the Welcome Home Columbia (WHC) events including Passport to Columbia, Low-Lapalooza: Silent Disco, and Speed Friending in the Fall semester and Dinner with Strangers in the Spring semester. This committee plans during the Summer for the Fall Welcome Home and will plan throughout the Fall semester for Spring Welcome Home Columbia.

  • End-of-Term Committee - This committee plans and implements Columbia's traditional end-of-term celebrations including Low Lounge (Fall semester) and Night @ Butler (Spring semester).

  • Support Committee - This committee plays a pivotal role in staffing events, engaging with event participants, and the outreach efforts of the Events Council. While this committee does not plan events, they can support all events put forth by the events council throughout the academic year.

Selected applicants will be invited for an interview and will be notified via email.
