Pascal's Barista Fellows Application 2022
Thank you for your interest in Pascal’s at the Christian Study Center! Please take a moment to familiarize with the position and its expectations.

Background: Pascal’s is the coffeehouse program of the Christian Study Center. The Christian Study Center is a non-profit that seeks to explore the intersection of Christian faith and academic discourse, with a view toward human flourishing and the common good. Pascal’s is a wonderful embodiment of the values of the CSC. We strive to love our university community through good drink, good food, and hospitality.

The position: To become a barista at Pascal’s means that you become a Barista Fellow. A Barista Fellow cultivates a space where coffee, community, conversation, and creativity thrive together. As a Barista Fellow you will not only be immersed in the world of coffee as you work behind the bar; you will also be a part of a learning and living community. The best way to learn is to do. Our shifts behind the bar become an expression of the learning we are doing together in community. Our entire barista staff meets for a monthly dinner and discussion called Barista Society. Barista Society is a guided reading group where barista fellows will explore shared questions of human experience through a Christian theological framework.

Our learning community is committed to:
- Exploring what it means to serve its community with good drink, good food, and hospitality
- Exploring what it would mean to think well
- Exploring what it would mean to be the thoughtful presence of Christ
- Exploring the intersection of Christian faith and academic discourse, with a view toward human flourishing and the common good

What we are looking for in applicants:
- Currently an undergraduate student at UF or Santa Fe College
- Willingness to learn the necessary skills of a craft coffee professional
- An ability to work 10-15 coffee bar hours weekly
- Can attend monthly staff meetings and regular coffee cuppings, field trips, and advanced trainings
- Can participate in the semester-long shared reading group, Barista Society
- A committed follower of Christ, eager to learn more and be in conversation with others

Please note that this application is for the Barista Fellows starting Fall 2022. Training will be scheduled August 19 - 23, 2022.

Please reach out to manager@chrisitianstudycenter.org for any questions about the position.

Deadline for submission is midnight on April 8, 2022. Any applications received after this time will not be considered.
