Community Helping Seniors
This form is to volunteer to help our Tri-Valley (Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore) Seniors.  If you are willing to help with any of the following, please sign up.

- Help Seniors with shopping
- Help Seniors with picking up prescriptions (need to call the pharmacy to confirm if possible)
- Call Seniors for a friendly chat

We are a total volunteer group and will not take any tips, rewards, or other compensation for helping people. This group intends to help people who are vulnerable and at serious risk of COVID-19 stay at home

This is not a charity / or donation organization.  We want to help people stay at home and avoid exposure to larger gatherings, by helping them with their essential grocery, medication delivered at home, or a chat.

All information will be confidential and only provided to Seniors (clients) who are assigned to help.

We are working with COVID-19 Senior Support Group - Pleasanton to cover Pleasanton shopping/delivery needs and hence we will be forwarding your volunteer info to them.

Also, to keep our Senior and homebound citizens safe, we will be forwarding your name and phone number to the local police departments so they know you are volunteering for us and to keep any criminal elements out of this volunteer effort.  The police are NOT going to do a background check nor investigate you but just as an FYI so they know you are volunteering.

Guidelines: TriValleyHelpSeniors

Thank you for volunteering to help others in this time of crisis. The need of
the hour is for us to stay virtually connected and try to help our elderly
and/or at-risk neighbors.

Here are few general guidelines (Do’s and Don'ts) you can follow to help the person or family you are assigned:

1. Reach out to them over the phone to introduce yourself and where you live. Let them know you are from the TriValley Help Seniors Group. The idea is to build a personal connection that they feel comfortable with.

2. Ask them what they help with in terms of grocery and essential delivery needs. You might want to get them meals from the Senior Center if possible. Clarify with them how they intend to pay you for the groceries, as you might have to pay at the store upfront.  We recommend having them write a check to you or the store.

3. For pharmacy pickups, please have the senior call the pharmacy ahead of time and let the pharmacy know that you are going to pickup their prescription for them.

4. Check with them if they are able to create an online order that you can pickup.

5. While delivering the grocery, leave it outside at their doorstep and call them to notify it is there. Try to minimize the contact and maintain a social distance.

6. Check with them once in a while every 3 days or so. It is important to stay at home and follow the “Shelter In Place” orders from the authorities, so try to club your shopping needs together with the person you are helping, to minimize your own risk.

7. If for some reason you are not able to fulfil their shopping needs or med pickup etc. reach out to the others in the group by calling 925-400-8472 or email trivalleyhelpseniors@gmail.com.

8. If you are helping to call seniors for a chat, please identify yourself as part of the TriValley Help Seniors Group.

We have all come together informally in this unprecedented situation and at the same time understandably this introduces certain risks, so the disclaimer below. Stay safe!

Standard disclaimer:
Please note that none of us are in anyway legally liable for any actions you might perform. We may shared the list of members who are volunteers and those who are taking help with the Pleasanton, Livermore and Dublin PD.
