Tinkergarten Free Trial Registration

Class Details:

This registration form is for attending a free trial class before joining our Winter half-season. If you would like to register to attend the season, I'll include a sign-up link in your trial confirmation email. Cost will be prorated based on the number of remaining classes in the season.

Age Range: 18 months - 5 years old
Locations: Central Park, SW by the Dalehead Arch or J. Hood Wright Park in Washington Heights
Class Length: 1 hour
Participation: Caregiver attendance is required. This is a child-led, parent-supported class and at least one caregiver is required to attend per family.

Hi there! I'm Jen: mama to a sweet, tenacious, energetic 3 year old and your teacher for the upcoming Tinkergarten class you'll be attending. 😊 If you've never heard of Tinkergarten classes, I'm SO excited for you to join us and I can't wait for you and your little explorer(s) to experience the magic of intentional play-based learning! 

Designed by experts, loved by teachers, parents and kids, Tinkergarten gets kids ages 18 months to 8 years old learning outside. Kids who participate get the physical and mental benefits of increased time outdoors and build a lasting connection to nature and to their fellow explorers. They also develop a strong foundation in essential skills that kids need to become creative, caring and confident people who can thrive in a dynamic world. 

After participating in a Tinkergarten season:
  • 87% of families report that their kids request to spend more time outside
  • 90% of families report that their kids play more independently
  • 93% of caregivers report gaining new ideas for engaging their kids in play
  • 90% of caregivers report that they better understand how children develop and learn
On a personal note, I have found that Tinkergarten is equally as beneficial for me as it is for my daughter. It can be so difficult to find like-minded families to be in community with. This class not only gives us a consistent reason to get outside and learn in nature, it gives me an opportunity to connect and learn with other grown ups who are navigating how to best support their children just like I am. 

We just recently returned to the city after a year away. I'm so excited to start holding Tinkergarten classes here and I'm really looking forward to meeting you and your kiddo(s) in class! Please note: each class is limited to 10 attending children plus their caretakers (20 people max). In-season trial classes are subject to class availability. If none of the available dates/times works for you, email me at playoutsidenyc@gmail.com and let me know what you would like to see added in a future season!

Note: if you love Tinkergarten class and decide to join the season, you can register for any day/time regardless of which trial you attended.

Release of Liability

The teacher is deeply committed to every child’s safety and carefully assesses and manages danger in all of our activities. However, there are risks inherent in any youth activity. Each family must select the box below and submit this completed form in order to participate.

Acknowledgement of Risk and Consent for Treatment: I acknowledge that there are risks inherent in any youth program, including by not limited to injury arising from: participation in physical activity; participant’s failure to follow instructions given by the teacher; communicable illness; and independent acts of third parties not under the control of the teacher. I acknowledge that all risks cannot be prevented, and assume those beyond the control of the teacher. In order to minimize risks to my child or other participants, I will take responsibility to see that my child is prepared for all activities and is in good health each day of class. In case of medical emergency, I understand that every reasonable attempt will be made to contact me. However, in the event that I cannot be reached, I give my permission to the teacher in charge of the class to secure emergency medical treatment for my child. I agree to pay for any charges for emergency medical treatment that are not covered by my personal health insurance.
