Cost to participate: $10

Your registration fee includes access to the camp site + dinner and beverages at camp. You are responsible for your own camping gear and snacks. While this ride does not have a SAG option, the entire route is near major roads and city areas. We will reach out to you to confirm payment after registration closes.

Who can attend?

You! All are welcome on this no-drop bikepacking ride. Kids are welcome in tow or on their own bikes if they can manage the distance and pace.

Ride details

We'll meet in downtown Chicago and ride about 25 miles to the camp site. This route will be mostly on paved, off-street trails with some street riding involved. Expect a rolling speed of about 10-12mph on a mostly flat route with a few short hills and bridges, and a couple of snack and hangout breaks along the way. This ride is great for newcomers to bicycle touring who are comfortable on the road and ready to expand their skills.

Multi-modal option

Our camp site is near the South Shore Line (Hammond stop), which is about 5 miles from the camp site. This is a great option for joining the campout if you aren't comfortable with the 25-mile distance. This is also a good option for returning to the city on Day 2. Train tickets are the rider's responsibility.

Please note that a limited number of bicycles are allowed on South Shore trains and you may not be guaranteed boarding with a bike. See the South Shore Line schedules for more information.
