Santa Barbara Bird Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of unwanted and displaced companion parrots. SBBS also acts as a resource for the community to help promote responsible bird companionship through education and owner support.

Volunteers play an important role at the Sanctuary, appreciated by birds and humans alike. There are many ways to help, as you will see below in this application form. Please indicate what you're good at and what you'd like to learn more about. We will match you with duties that we need and that satisfy your interests as well. We only accept continual volunteering as it takes us time to train what is needed to be done.

Volunteers often perform multiple tasks during their shifts. We mix things up to make your volunteer time rewarding while ensuring we get all the parrots' necessities during the day. Jobs include everything from cleaning chores to greeting visitors and informing them about the birds to specialized computer, social media, and production skills.... and everything in between. If you have an unusual or rare skill, we'll make it part of the SBBS experience!
