Hopkinton Music Association Private Lesson Program 23-24

Dear Parents,

Excellence in music is a product of hard work and a strong foundation of fundamentals. To facilitate excellence, the Hopkinton Music Association, in conjunction with the Hopkinton Music Department, is once again sponsoring an after-school private lesson program.  Please read this letter carefully and return the attached form to the Hopkinton Music Association.  

Professional music teachers and performers offer lessons for all band and orchestra instrument.  Lessons are available at a rate of $29.00 per half-hour lesson.  Students may elect 45 minute and hour lessons at the rate of $43.50 and $58.00 respectively.  Lessons are discounted to $28.00 per half hour ($42.00/ 45 minute and $56.00/hour) if lessons are paid in full and in advance.

Lessons this year will be in person at the Middle and High School and in some cases over Zoom. 

Lesson Information and Policies:    

1. A separate payment for the $35.00 registration fee must accompany the registration form.   If there are multiple registrations per family, the registration fee is capped at $45.00

2. Tuition for lessons must be paid for in advance.

3.    Lesson payments are due in two installments.  A payment schedule is included with this notice.  Lessons will be discounted to a rate of $28.00 per half-hour lesson ($42.00/ 45 minutes and $56.00/hour) if both semesters are paid in full by September 18, 2023. 4.  Students are expected to be at every lesson.  THERE ARE NO EXCUSED ABSENCES FOR LESSONS.  All lessons must be paid for whether they are attended or not.  The after school lesson program is a tuition program.  Lessons will only be made up if the teacher must cancel for illness or a professional reason.

5. Lessons are scheduled only when school is in session.  If a lesson falls on an early release day, the regular lesson schedule will be maintained with the exception that there will be no lessons on the early release days of  November 22 and December 22.  

6. Lessons are scheduled M - F after school and early evening depending on teacher availability.

7.  If school is canceled or there is an early dismissal due to inclement weather, lessons will be canceled.  The teacher will schedule a makeup lesson. (Three weeks of makeup lessons are scheduled after the conclusion of the second semester.)

8. If you are unable to attend a lesson, as a courtesy, please call the teacher. The lesson will not be made up.

9. All previous financial obligations to the Hopkinton Music Association must be met before lessons are scheduled.

10. Participation in the Private Lesson Program will be canceled if payments for the lessons are not made.

11.If the student does not wish to continue lessons into the Second Semester (beginning January 22, 2024), a letter or email should be sent to the teacher with a copy to Julie Franks, c/o HMA, PO Box 242, Hopkinton, MA 01748 or if by email to  hopmusiclessons@gmail.com  30 days in advance of the start of the Second Semester stating their decision to discontinue lessons.

Registration must be completed by Monday, September 18, 2023.

This is an excellent program open to all students.  We highly recommend that all students interested in developing their musical skills take advantage of this program.
