Book Club Meeting /    The Gift by Edith Eger

This month, America House invites you to discover the New York Times bestselling author - Edith Eger.

Edith Eger’s powerful first book The Choice told the story of her survival in the concentration camps, her escape, healing, and journey to freedom.

The Gift is a practical and inspirational guide to healing, showing us how to stop harmful patterns and imprisoning thoughts to find freedom and enjoy life.

Filled with empathy, insight, and humor, The Gift captures the vulnerability and common challenges we all face and provides encouragement and advice for breaking out of our personal prisons to find freedom.

“The Book Club” meetings are organized once a month. Each month a different book is selected from the America House library based on the theme of the month. Participants are not required to read or know about the entire book before the session. During the meeting, they get to know more about the author and learn interesting facts about the book itself, and the context in which it was written. They read portions or chapters from the book and have a guided discussion on what they have read.

The purpose of “The Book Club” is to encourage America House visitors aged 14+ with an intermediate level of English to read more, discover new writers and topics, and borrow books from the America House library.
