Youth Voices Monologue Workshop 2023
The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre and Read And Write Kalamazoo (RAWK) are teaming up to honor MLK Day 2023 by celebrating and amplifying youth voices!

Kalamazoo County youth in grades 4th–12th are invited to join us for a virtual workshop series inspired by Martin Luther King Jr., our historical struggles for civil rights, and the powerful tradition of oral storytelling.

Throughout the series, we will explore the art of the monologue and then put our knowledge into action by writing, editing, and polishing our own monologues inspired by each of our unique passions. Finally, with the help of the Civic’s team, each writer will record a video of their monologue to be shared with the community on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2023.

Workshops take will take place via Google Classroom/Google Meets at 5:30–6:30 PM on Wednesdays
October 19
October 26
November 2
November 9
November 16 and
November 30.

Recordings will be in person at RAWK and scheduled by appointment throughout the week of December 5–8
