Swimmers may take a break from the team per registration year (September through August) without incurring reinstatement fees. That is:
∙ Swimmers will need to notify the head coach and treasurer by the 15th of the previous month (i.e. if terminating for April… notice due by March 15), if they wish to take a break from the team.
∙ To suspend a swimmer's account with the Brookings Swim Club, Swimmers will need to give notice by the 15th of the previous month that they wish to suspend their account. This is accomplished by completing this Suspension Form. Upon submission of this form, please email the Head Coach at bsccoach@brookingsswimclub.com and Treasurer at treasurer@brookingsswimclub.com.
(i.e. if Terminating as of April… need to notify by March 15).
∙ There will be no additional charge to be reinstated during the registration year, however reinstatement is on a space available basis.
∙ If a swimmer chooses to take more than one break during the registration year, there will be a $100.00 reinstatement fee for the subsequent reinstatement(s). ∙ It is the family’s responsibility to verify that this form is completed and received by the Head Coach and the BSC Treasurer.
∙ Volunteer meet requirements include meets during the time the swimmer is an active, dues paying member of the team.
∙ Committee requirements apply year-round, including during a swimmer’s hiatus from the team, with the exception of the swimmer leaving the team entirely (i.e. not planning to return).
Swimmers with a medical exemption from practice for a month or longer (i.e. the swimmer cannot participate in both wet and dry activities for a month or longer) are eligible to request a suspension of dues for that period. This suspension of dues is not subject to the notice requirement or to a reinstatement fee. However, medical exemptions resulting in a request for suspension of dues require a minimum of one-month absence. After that month if the swimmer returns mid-month, dues will be prorated.
To request a Temporary Suspension of Account as a result of a medical exemption from practice, swimmers must complete this suspension form and email the Head Coach at bsccoach@brookingsswimclub.com and the Treasurer at treasurer@brookingsswimclub.com.
∙ This form must be submitted within one week of the start of the medical exemption. ∙ It is the family’s responsibility to verify that the form and additional documentation is completed and received by the Head Coach and the BSC Treasurer.
∙ During a medical leave from the team a swimmer cannot practice with the team but is welcome to attend social activities.
∙ Families are expected to meet Volunteer requirements during a swimmer’s medical leave from the team.
∙ Committee requirements apply during a swimmer’s medical leave from the team. ∙ The following additional documentation is required:
∙ A signed and dated letter from a physician describing the nature of the medical exemption and either the exact dates of absence from the team or the start date and approximate length of absence.
∙ To terminate a swimmer's account with the Brookings Swim Club, Swimmers will need to give notice by the 15th of the previous month that they wish to terminate their account. This is accomplished by completing this Suspension Form. Upon submission of this form, please email the Head Coach at bsccoach@brookingsswimclub.com and Treasurer at treasurer@brookingsswimclub.com.
(i.e. if Terminating as of April… need to notify by March 15).
∙ It is the family’s responsibility to verify that this form is completed and received by the Head Coach and the BSC Treasurer
∙ Volunteer meet requirements are released as of the month of termination. ∙ Committee requirements are released as of the month of termination. ∙ Any outstanding dues and fees must be paid in full for this agreement to take effect ∙ ****If you would be willing, we would love to have you share the reasons for your child’s termination from swimming so we can strive to always improve our Club. Even if it’s as simple as “swimming just wasn’t his/her sport” would you be so kind as to let us know with a quick note below? We are very open to constructive feedback from parents and of course always welcome children back to the team if they decide they want to give it another try in the future!
