Tasmanian Youth Climate Leaders Program - Mentor Expression of Interest

The Tasmanian Youth Climate Leaders Program offers students (aged 10-18 years) the opportunity to understand the ways in which their actions can contribute towards the global effort to address climate change and sustainability. The program provides mentorship to students as they learn about climate change and implement a climate action project in their organisation or local community during the year. The goal of this program is to ignite the passion of youth, and equip them with skills to lead on- ground climate actions into the future.

We are seeking expressions of interest from mentors across lutruwita / Tasmania who have expertise in climate science, issues and actions. Previous mentors have been from a range of areas including waste, biodiversity, food security, health, transport, energy, social sciences, health and climate justice.

Mentors provide a key role in our program supporting young people to explore climate change impacts and actions to inform the development of their own climate action projects.

There are a range of opportunities for mentors to be involved in the program from providing workshops and engaging talks, to working along side students as they develop and implement their climate action project.

Mentors are asked to be available to attend:

- An induction session (on-line) (approx 30 minutes to 1 hour)

- A minimum of 1 conference in either the North, North-West or South (approx 2-4 hours depending on elected involvement).

Conferences will be held on:
South - Friday March 15 and Tuesday 17 September 2024
North West - Monday March 18 and Thursday 19 September 2024
North - Tuesday March 19 and and Friday 20 September 2024

- A minimum of 1 mentor session with a student group at a mutually beneficially time either in person or on line (approx 45 min to 1 hour).

and

A program information pack will be provided to all mentors.
