Syndicate Saber United Membership Agreement & Waiver
Thank you for joining Syndicate Saber and supporting our future endeavors. Our members play a vital role in creating a familial atmosphere and professional image during practices, performances, and all Syndicate Saber interactions. We strive to provide a safe and friendly environment for all participants. By signing this agreement you are agreeing to follow all policies stated and implied while representing Syndicate Saber.

Medical or Physical Restrictions

Participation will be physically and mentally demanding. Members are expected to be in good health and able to participate in games and/or choreography. Any physical or medical restrictions that need to be accommodated must be disclosed prior to participating in activities. Appropriate accommodations will be made based on restrictions disclosed; however, members are expected to manage their own well-being while participating in activities. Due to risk of injury, members are required to be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age to participate, or have their parent/guardian sign below in agreement in addition to the underage members agreement.

Equipment Requirements

All members are required to provide their own equipment. Closed toe shoes are required for all practices and performances. Dueling and game participation requires protective equipment for the hands. Other safety equipment, such as knee pads, elbow pads, forearm guards, shin guards, chest pieces, athletic supporters, and helmets are recommended but not required.

For the first 90 days of membership, access to use Syndicate Saber Arizona’s loaner saber(s) is provided for practice and performance use. Members are responsible to repair any damages that occur while borrowed equipment is in their possession. Members are required to provide their own saber or have it on order within 90 days from signing this agreement for continued availability of Syndicate Saber’s equipment. Sabers are available on a first come first served basis, this includes borrowing for experimenting with different styles of saber combat.

Harassment Free Environment

All members have a right to participate in an environment free from the demoralizing effects of harassment, unwelcome, offensive or improper conduct. Sexual harassment or harassment based on gender, color, religion, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, expression, disability, or veteran status, or any other status protected by law will not be tolerated.

Family/Partner/Significant Other Conflict of Interest Policy

Syndicate Saber follows a “Be professional” policy when it comes to all interpersonal relationships including, but not limited to, family members, partners, and significant others who may hold a position over or alongside one another. Members are to remain professional and unbiased when it comes to all decision making. If conduct becomes impactful or detrimental to Syndicate Saber, Council will discuss and vote on the appropriate actions.

Photography and Videography

Syndicate Saber has the irrevocable and unrestricted permission for use concerning any photographs or videos of its members for any purpose whatsoever for advertising, promotion, art, editorial, and any other purpose and in any manner and medium; and to alter and composite the same without restriction and without member inspection or approval.

Confidentiality and Nondisclosure

Members are expected to maintain confidentiality with information received from Syndicate Saber. We strive to share as much information on the inner workings of our club with our members as possible, with the knowledge that much of this information is proprietary to Syndicate Saber. Certain information may be embargoed until a set time frame, and members are expected to respect Syndicate Saber’s  requests for confidentiality, as the release of said information will impact other plans. Should Council find that information is being shared in a way that is detrimental to Syndicate Saber, the privilege of information will cease.

Confidential Information includes without limitation: upcoming projects that may or may not have been completed, personal information including family, friends, and relationships, and opinions made by members and leaders. This list is neither all-inclusive nor complete.

At Will Membership

Membership is voluntary, and a member may discontinue their membership at any time without notice.  Chapter Council reserves the right to remove a member from the group without cause, however this action is taken only by unanimous Council vote or Founder Override.  If a council member is to be dismissed, they are ineligible from voting on the matter, and a unanimous vote including founders is required.

Member Medical Waiver and Indemnity Agreement

Members are  responsible for providing their own sabers, costumes, and any other equipment or belongings that may be taken to practices and all events. Anything provided by Syndicate Saber as a benefit covers only the applicable terms of the specific benefit awarded. In the event of an accident or injury while participating as a member for Syndicate Saber, the member authorizes Syndicate Saber leadership to seek and obtain medical treatment, and the member takes full responsibility for any medical costs that may occur.

Furthermore, members agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Syndicate Saber from any and all damages, losses, claims, liabilities, charges, suits, penalties, costs and/or expenses, including but not limited to court costs, attorneys’ fees and expenses, resulting from any act (whether intentional or not), omission or negligence of any injury to the member.
