The IHCCO invites you and your family to join the very first year of its Persian after school and weekend school programs to learn how to
read and write in Persian (Farsi). The after school programs are
only offered to children, while the weekend school programs are for
both children and adults (in separate classes).
Our instructors are native Persian speakers with many years experience in teaching elementary students and new learners here in Ottawa and other regions.
All programs run from
mid-September 2022 to mid-June 2023, excluding two weeks of Winter holidays and the week of March break. They are held at the Community Cultural Centre (CCC) located on the third floor of 3025 Albion Rd N.
After School or Weekend School?
- Based on studies and the experience of experts, a better approach in learning a new language is to be done in a steady and gradual manner, which after school programs provide. In addition, according to Physical and Health Education Canada, after school time period is a critical time for children as they tend to participate in sedentary activities, high-risk behaviours, and often display poor eating habits when they are left alone during this time period.
- Children might not be quite satisfied with engaging in serious learning programs during their weekend time period which they consider as a time to relax, play, and even enjoy arts or recreational programs instead. However, it is understandable that after school programs might not be an option for some families, mostly due to limitations in their commute and logistics. Still, learning a new language can be extremely beneficial for children's cognitive and social developments which weekend school programs can offer.
Learning with Fun!!
- After school classes start with a snack time so students can have a recess after their school hours. Then, a short learning time, followed by an educational play time to review their Persian reading and writing skills with fun games.
- Weekend school classes include two longer learning time periods, with a recess in between. The second learning time includes educational games too.
How much does it cost?
- The tuition fee is between $20 and $30 per day, depending on the program and class size. The final amount is announced when a class reaches the quorum.
- Cost of materials and textbooks will be extra.
- The total amount is received in two installments: 50% in September 2022, and 50% in January 2023.
- If you plan to withdraw from a class, you need to inform us at least 30 days before.
Are all levels available?
- No, there need to be a minimum number of students in each level to form a new class.
- At the same time, the class sizes are kept small and each class cannot exceed a maximum number to preserve the expected quality of learning.

We'll be in touch with you to finalize the registration afterwards! Note that as the classes have maximum capacity, the priority is given to those who pre-register sooner!
