ŚW̱,ȻENEṈITEL Indigenous Foods Initiative - Call for Proposals! We have approximately $30,000 available for this granting stream. Grants range from $500-$3000.
Grant Deadlines: March 27 (Friday) 2020; April 17 (Friday) 2020.You will be notified about the grant within one week, and awards will be mailed out within 10 days.

The grant is intended to support people to grow food or medicine gardens in community gardens or harvesting foods or medicines for communities and increase access to fresh fruits, veggies, and herbs.

Project Eligibility*:
- Commit to growing or harvesting and sharing local Indigenous foods or medicines;
- Clearly identify connection to any of the 9 Band Nations or territories (listed below);
- Group of people or Indigenous-led organizations working within the CRD;
- Meet (by phone or video conference) with ŚW̱,ȻENEṈITEL Initiative Team.

We want to support our families and communities to harvest Indigenous foods and medicines!

In response to recent and future impacts of COVID-19, this grant will support increasing access to foods and traditional medicines for the Lekwungen, W̱SÁNEĆ, tSouke, and Nuu-chah-nulth communities. This includes the 9 Band Nations: Songhees, Esquimalt, Tsartlip/W̱JOȽEȽP, Tseycum/WSIḴEM, Tsawout/SȾÁUTW, Pauquachin/BOḰEĆEN, t'Sou-ke, Scia’new and Pacheedaht.

*Eligibility Note: The Initiative seeks to center local protocols and Indigenous laws of the land. In alignment with this commitment, the Initiative will prioritize applicants from the local Indigenous lands and communities listed above.
