In the next decade 500,000 teens will enter adulthood and age out of school-based services. Adults with autism are less likely to access healthcare or have a job and pursue a degree beyond high school. The Facing Autism in Adulthood project highlights the stories of autistic individuals, with a focus on adults, and those caregivers, therapists, volunteers, friends, and family who love and support them.
This project is a safe space where we welcome all points-of-view. Each story is in the first person and represents an individual's lived experience. No single story can fully capture the neurodiversity that exists in our world, but collectively, it is our hope that the project creates a mosaic that spreads empathy, understanding, awareness, acceptance, and leads to positive action.
