The College Archives is a part of the St. Mary’s College Library and serves as the final repository for the historical records of St. Mary’s College of California. It is the policy of the College Archives to encourage the transfer of records from other departments of the College to the College Archives at regularly scheduled intervals. Transfer of materials is conditional on the evaluation by the College Archivist. Materials are evaluated on the basis of their relevance to the collecting goals as stated in Archives Policy. Items accepted for transfer may, at the discretion the Academic Resources Dean and/or College Archivist, may be disposed.

Collecting Priorities

- Official records, papers, and publications created or received by the administrative offices of St. Mary’s College of California in the conduct of their business, which may include correspondence, minutes, general files, and financial records.
- College publications which may include newsletters, memos, announcements, and serials.
- Professional and personal papers of faculty, staff, and alumni, which may include correspondence, artifacts, and other records relating to research, teaching, professional affiliations and personal life.
- Artifacts and ephemera related to College life, sports, student clubs and activities.
- Rare and Exceptional Collections

The College Archives does not accept textbooks and yearbooks, material related to the current business and operations of Saint Mary’s College of California Museum of Art, the Lasallian Christian Brothers, the Diocese of Oakland, the Archdiocese of San Francisco, and the community of Moraga.
