THANK YOU for submitting your work to this October’s PUPPET HOMECOMING 2022! This is Puppeteers of America's official Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Regional Festival.
This call is specifically seeking puppeteers interested in the following opportunities:
- LIVE performance
- Filmed performance
- Workshop presenters
- Panelists/Moderators
We are thrilled to return to Puppet Homecoming post-pandemic, and we look forward to seeing familiar faces from all over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions and beyond!
The festival will take place over two weekends this Fall, from October 6-9 (LIVE in NYC), and October 13-16 (Online).
WEEKEND ONE (Oct. 6-9) - is the in-person weekend of the festival. This will be the first PofA Festival hosted in NYC since 1939! A portion of the festival will incorporate various NYC puppet destinations, while the majority of the festival will be held at Coney Island USA (a 40 yr-old arts non-profit and venue in South Brooklyn just two blocks from the boardwalk and the beach,
www.coneyisland.com). The focus will be on puppet history in Coney Island, and puppetry as practiced in NYC and the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic regions. You will need to be physically present in Brooklyn, NY (specifically Coney Island) on October 6-9, in order to participate. We will not be providing any compensation for housing, or registration, but the majority of opportunities in this call will provide payment for your work (see each category below for the various levels of payment). We are also offering all selected artists a ticket to Weekend Two, and a listing on the Artist Page of our website.
WEEKEND TWO (Oct.13-16) - is the online weekend of the festival, for those who cannot attend in person. The majority of performances/workshops/panels from the first weekend will be broadcast, and there will be additional focus on puppetry as practiced in the broader Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Regions. You do not necessarily need to physically attend Weekend One in order to share work during this second weekend. We are able to offer all selected participants a ticket to Weekend Two, and a listing on the Artist Page of our website.
