The energy crisis has been with us for a long time and will be with us even longer. Whether Arab oil flows freely or
not, it is clear that the world industry cannot be allowed to depend on so fragile a base. The supply of oil can be shut
off at whim any time. In any case, the oil wells will run dry in about 30 years. New sources of energy must be found
and this will take time. But it is not likely to restore that sense of copious energy availability we had in the past.
