Privacy Policy and Client Agreement

Front Foot Psychology takes the collection and storage of your information very seriously and complies with both the Data Protection Act 1998 and the European General Data Protection Regulations 2018. Dr Darren Britton acts as the Data Controller, and is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

1. INFORMATION COLLECTED AND HOW IT'S USED

In the first instance, basic personal information will be collected for contact and identification reasons. Notes will be written up on each session and stored electronically, along with the results of any assessments made. These notes will be stored in a password protected cloud storage which only Dr Darren Britton has access to.
 
If you have emailed Dr Darren Britton and/or have consented to Dr Darren Britton emailing you, your email will be stored in a password protected account that is only accessible to Dr Darren Britton. If you use the contact message form on Front Foot Psychology's website, this information will be sent to the same email address. Dr Darren Britton will delete any email correspondence for clients with whom he is not currently working. 
 
Dr Darren Britton will not share any information about you with third parties without your consent, with the exception of ‘sharing of data’ section in this privacy policy. 

2. YOUR RIGHTS

You have rights relating to the information Dr Darren Britton holds to verify the accuracy or to ask for them to be supplemented, deleted, updated or corrected.  You have the right to request a copy of the information held about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email Dr Darren Britton via the contact details stated in the client agreement. Information will be provided to you within 30 days if this is appropriate. You may ask Dr Darren Britton to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate. You have a right to request the transfer of your data to another individual or company. If you are concerned about how Dr Darren Britton is handling your data, please contact him directly if possible. You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s office (ICO): https://ico.org.uk/.

3. DATA RETENTION (how long your information is kept)

Dr Darren Britton will retain your details and session notes electronically for a period of 7 years following the end of the working relationship to comply with legal obligations set by Dr Darren Britton's insurers. In the case of a children and young people, records will be kept for 7 years after they reach the age of 18.  After this date, all data will be securely deleted.

4. SHARING OF DATA AND RISK

There may be times where your information needs to be shared with third parties. In general, the content of the session is confidential between Dr Darren Britton and you, although please note he may discuss the work in supervision but will not reveal your name. In the rare circumstance where Dr Darren Britton believes there is a significant risk to you or others, he may have to contact your next of kin or other professionals (e.g. your GP) without your consent, but he will always try to inform you first if he needs to do this.
