Dance Marathon at FSU is looking for an Engagement Chair to bring Dance Marathon to the Tallahassee and FSU community. They will be responsible for researching external activities happening in our greater Tallahassee community, while still actively planning in person and virtual events that serve our local FSU campus and community. Additionally, this person is responsible for planning, overseeing, and executing all in person and virtual events leading up to Marathon weekend. This includes helping Delegates plan for their mini-marathons and other events to get our external community excited for the Marathon. Furthermore, the Engagement Chair should utilize campus partners to plan monthly, small-scale events that can happen virtually or in person where internal stewardship can occur (renting out the cinema, dodgeball etc.). The Engagement Chair must have a love for event planning in both an in person and virtual setting, fundraising, and thinking outside the box. Everyone - students, community members, and our Miracle Families - should be talking about what DM at FSU is doing.
Responsibilities:
Delegate event responsibilities to your Engagement Team to ensure that everyone is involved and events run smoothly.
Bring Dance Marathon to the Tallahassee community by creating new events that engage new groups of people on a virtual and in person format
Coordinate all events with our Delegates to ensure the participation of each external organization.
Work closely with the Marathon Director to brainstorm and improve our top-notch events to focus on extending our external reach to gain more participants and individuals who are interested in our cause.
Plan and execute in person and virtual events leading up to Dance Marathon that raise excitement, awareness, and money.
Be open to the possibility of overseeing and facilitating multiple events throughout the year.
Work with the Marketing team to ensure that each event is adequately publicized at least 2 weeks prior to the date of the event.
Able to delegate tasks to coordinators and captains to ensure they are being utilized and enjoying their internal experience.
Oversee and research into volunteering opportunities for our organizational members to become a part of as a way to further engage and promote awareness of our cause.
Work with the Family Relations team to ensure the family participation is available at each event planned.
Keep the Executive Board, Morale Captains, and Delegates involved and excited throughout the year by making sure our events are fun and well-attended in both an in person and virtual setting.
Work closely with the Marathon Experience Chair, Engagement Chair, and Hospitality Chair in order to plan the most efficient and engaging events
Skills:
You need to be able to clearly articulate your ideas, while listening for the possibility of great ideas coming from others that serve on the Executive board.
Happy to work both independently and in a team setting.
Have a vision for new events to get people excited and talking about Dance Marathon early on.
Generate ideas about how to make our existing events (Miracle Week, Rally Week, FTKolor, etc.) better than the previous year's.
Must be organized and able to keep track of multiple events moving forward
Not afraid to delegate responsibilities to your team and ask for help when needed
Have amazing time management skills in order to keep up to date with your work and the work of the Executive Board as a whole.

Requirements:
Must be a full-time student at Florida State University with a GPA of 2.5 or above.
Must be able to commit to this role through the entire year, including summer, fall, and spring until the next marathon ends and new management team is selected.
Must not be studying abroad during Fall or Spring semesters
