Job Descriptions

Bar Setter:

Pretty self explanatory for this job.

This is one of the best jobs to have at Champs as you get to watch the runs directly from the ring.  And you're only required to work during height changes or when a bar is knocked.

Leash Runner:

Again fairly self explanatory.

You will need to be physically capable of walking for awhile without tiring.

You should expect that for each group you leash run, you will be walking close to 1 Mile.

Chute Worker:

Your job will be to make sure that competitors are progressing through the chutes.

We're putting more emphasis on the competitors doing this themselves for this year, so your job will be to remind them in case they forget and are hanging out in their current holding area for too long.

The Following jobs require that you be an experienced handler or judge.   You will also need to be able to stay calm under pressure, and talk to other competitors in a calm and friendly manner.

Starter:

This is the person at the start obstacle of the course who will say 'Good Luck' to start the next dog.

You will be responsible for checking the ring to make sure no workers are on course

You will be responsible for watching the finish dog, once the clock stops you will start the current dog, assuming the course is clear.

You will also have a radio connected to the Judges that you will need to listen to, in case the judges ask you to hold the next dog for course corrections.   You will need to talk on the radio an absolute minimal amount, as the judges need it clear for their calls to the score table.

Gate Steward:

This job is going to be fairly easy this year as we're using our online gate system.

You will be responsible for marking off dogs as they go into the chutes.

You will be responsible for making sure they are going into the chutes in order, as any deviation from the posted run order creates large issues for both videographers and the score table.

You will have a radio that is connected to the Score table, if a dog is a no show you will need to alert us so that we can alert the videographers and the score table.   This can also be used when the dog does eventually show up to alert us where they are being inserted into the run order.
