Growing Confident Readers Scholarship NOMINATION

We Communicate (www.wecommunicateslp.com) is excited to announce the second round of the Growing Confident Readers scholarship! The Growing Confident Readers scholarship provides a child with 6 months of cost-free reading assessment and intervention from a speech-language pathologist to become a stronger, more confident reader! The recipient of the scholarship will receive: a comprehensive literacy assessment (up to 2 hours) and 25 therapy sessions (45 minutes each) of individualized literacy intervention. The total value of this scholarship is up to $2842.50.

Eligibility Criteria:
*Child must be 6 years of age or older as of June 1, 2022
*Child is struggling with reading or foundational literacy skills (e.g., letter names & sounds)
*Child lives in Norfolk or Haldimand County
*Child's family demonstrates financial need [see below for specific information]
*Child is able to participate in structured activities one-on-one with an adult

Note: Your nomination extends an invitation to the child(ren)'s family(ies) to apply for this scholarship. Additional criteria and specifications are available in the application form completed by the child’s family.

Following being nominated, the deadline for families to apply is Friday, July 1, 2022 at 5:00pm (EST) so please nominate a child in need as soon as possible.

From all applications that meet the eligibility criteria, one child will be awarded with a 6-month scholarship this spring/summer (2022). The families of the children who have been awarded a scholarship will be contacted directly by the We Communicate team.
