cJAPANESE PLUS is Globalize DC's free afterschool Japanese language, culture, and career exposure program for DC public high school students. We created this program in 2016 to give interested DC students access to Japanese language study, at a time when no DC public school (DCPS or charter) offered Japanese as a language option.
Students meet twice a week - Wednesdays (4:30-6:30 pm online) and Saturdays (10 am-1 pm in person) throughout the school year. We've run the program for four years, offering a two-year language sequence, and it has been a huge success by many measures. We have also created a menu of other Japan-related programs for interested DC public school students - including Japan in DC (summer program), Japanese Tamago (online language program), and our #StopAsianHate Project.
You can refer to our website for much more information:

What makes Japanese Plus so special, and what our students find most rewarding, is the program's connection to the real world, thanks to the involvement of a broad network of Japan-focused individuals, organizations, and programs. We depend on a wide community of supporters and volunteers to make this program work.
If you're interested in getting involved, here are some ideas. I will follow up individually.
