2023-2024 School Pick up/Drop off Agreement.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

•     This agreement form MUST be signed by the parent, the program supervisor, communicated to the school/teacher involved, and communicated to the van driver providing the transportation for the child.
•     September 5, 2023, NO AM TRANSPORTATION SERVICE. Children will need to be dropped off by parents on their first day of school, children will be picked up at dismissal upon parents' request. Please contact your child(ren) school and give authorization to B-Smart for pick up.
If a child needs to be dropped off at school to accommodate an activity/picked up at a different time, it will be the parent’s responsibility to make transportation arrangements.
It is the parent’s responsibility to let our facility know, by Himama or email, if your child will not be attending or of any changes that may occur throughout the day. Example: Child goes home sick, pick-up arrangements. 
 •     On certain days, if the Parent/Guardian will be taking the child from school, instead of the child taking the
bus to the B-Smart, he/she must inform B-Smart Staff. Parents MUST contact the office if they are picking up their child. $25 penalty will apply for each time a child is picked up from school without notifying the Daycare. After three times of no notification, the child transportation will be terminated.
Our van leaves the center at 7:45 am all children using our busing will need to be at the Center prior to this time. Anyone arriving later will need to make alternate arrangements to get to school.
Any child under 40 pounds will be required to use a booster seat provided by the parents.
We will be responsible for the child until the child is dropped off at their specific school. Children are released from our care only if a supervisor from the school is present.
From the time the children are dropped at school till the children are physically in our care at pick up, they are the schools responsibility.
Once the children are in the center's van, it is the driver’s responsibility to get them back to B-Smart safely.
B-Smart Staff will walk children to and from schools that are within walking distance from the Center (weather permitting) and will be our responsibility until the child arrives to school or B-Smart facility. During the school time spent at school we will not be responsible for the child.
B-Smart Staff will carry a cell phone and Emergency Cards for each child to use in the case of an accident on the way to/from the center.
At all times, B-Smart Staff will act as positive role models by obeying all traffic rules while accompanying the child (eg: crossing the street at crosswalks, walking on the sidewalks instead of the street, and watching for vehicles at all times) to ensure the safety of the child.
There is absolutely a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for children disrupting the driver, bullying other children or not following safety rules during the transportation.
Children with high learning challenges or physical challenges may sometimes require one on one attention. Kindly note that for some cases, and for the best benefit of the child, we can NOT provide transportation service for that child.
It is the responsibility of the Parent/Guardian to arrange with the school/program the child will attend as each school/program has a contracted method of transportation (eg: yellow bus). It is the responsibility of the Parent/Guardian to bring the transportation information (name of the bus company, route number, address of pick up/drop off, and time of pick up/drop off) to the Center so that this information can be included in the Transportation Agreement and shared with the child's primary staff.
Children who take the yellow bus to and from school will be our responsibility until the child is physically put on a bus/retrieved from a bus. During the bus ride to and from the school/time spent at school we will not be responsible for the child.
*****PLEASE NOTE: WHEN WINTER TEMPERATURES GO BELOW -30 DEGREES CELCIUS, B-SMART TRANSPORTATION SERVICE WILL BE CANCELLED. TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM SCHOOLS WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARENT/GUARDIAN UNTIL WEATHER PERMITTING. Children are welcome to stay at the daycare if alternate transportation cannot be made.

Action plan for after school no shows/late children:
1. The daycare will be contacted to ensure a message was not left at the center
2. The school will be contacted verbally in person or by phone to confirm a pickup, and or to notify them of the missing child
3. Both the school and our center will work together to get in contact with the parents/emergency contacts
4. Both the school and our designated staff will work together to scan the school/area for the child
5. Upon searching the school/area and contacting parents, 911 will be contacted in a timely manner based on the circumstances
6. Please be aware that if your child is late after school due to a late field trip etc. it will be your responsibility to pick your child up from school as we have a tight schedule to follow and may not be able to return to the school. The parents and the school will be notified in the event of this happening.

Action plan for Yellow Bus no shows:
1. The program the child attends will be contacted to find out where the child is.
2. The yellow bus service will be called to ensure the bus arrival time is accurate/ensure the child was on the bus.
3. The parents/emergency contacts will be called to inform them of the situation.
4. If we receive no answer as to the whereabouts of the child from the school/bus service/parents 911 will be called in a timely manner based on the circumstances

***Please note: in the event that yellow bus service is cancelled due to inclement weather, your child misses the bus or has activities after school; it is the responsibility of the Parent/Guardian to arrange alternate
transportation to/from school. Children must be dressed appropriately for winter weather in order to ride the bus (snow pants, warm coat, mittens and a hat)

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION:

*We require a minimum of TWO children from the same school to provide Transportation Service to that school. If your child is the only one attending a specific school, you are invited to find an alternate transportation service or school from the list below.

***Parents that do not inform B-Smart Staff of any changes to the child’s daily Transportation (FIELD TRIPS, ABSENCE) will be charged a non-compliance fee of $25.00 per day AS WE HAVE A TIGHT PICK UP/ DROP OFF SCHEDULE. This will be added to the monthly Child Care Fee, an incident form will be filled out, and on the third incident of non-compliance, the Transportation Agreement will be terminated, and the Parents will be responsible to get the child to and from school. We realize this may be an inconvenience; however, communication from the Parent/Guardian is very important. This is for your child’s safety and well being.
