Volunteering for Steller Parent Group is a great way to learn more about current events at Steller; get to know other families, teachers, and staff; and help the Steller community thrive! Please select as many volunteer options as you would like. We can't wait to meet you!

Co-Fundraising Chair: Work with existing co-chair in organizing Cups For Kids, the Bear Tooth movie fundraiser, co-lead fundraising meetings; alternate with co-chair attending monthly SPG meetings. 5 hrs/month when no fundraising events; 8-15 hrs/month during months of two fundraisers (October and April)

Fundraising Committee: Attend fundraising meetings, help plan fundraising events, and volunteer at events (3-5 hours/month)

Finance Committee: Monthly review of funding requests and recommendation at SPG meeting; conduct annual review; prepare budget for approval by SPG (2-4 hours/month)

Zoom/Tech Guru: Setup and monitor Zoom at all monthly SPG general meetings and link to external monitor and speaker (5:30-8PM, second Tues of month x 9 months)

Advocacy Committee Chair: Identify issues in the community and before the Anchorage School Board that may affect Steller students and families; lead meetings relating to advocacy efforts by SPG; coordinate drafting communications to and/or speakers at Anchorage School Board meetings relating to SPG advocacy efforts; report at SPG monthly meetings (4-6 hours/month)

Advocacy Committee Member: Attend advocacy committee meetings and possibly assist in drafting communications or speaking at Anchorage School Board meetings relating to SPG advocacy efforts (2-4 hours/month)

Compliance Committee: Ensure compliance with SPG policies and federal and state reporting and insurance requirements for non-profits; report at SPG general meetings as needed (2-3 hours/month)

Cups For Kids Lead/Volunteer: Oct 2, 3, and 4 immediately before or after school - help students solicit donations for SPG and brew and serve coffee/cocoa. Sign up for shifts here (don't just check the box to the left): https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0849AEA62BABF5C43-cups#/

Webmaster: Assist in migrating SPG website to a new host, updating themes and plugins, and possible redesign. One time effort.

Student Recruitment: Work with Steller Staff to plan new student recruitment strategies. Present at elementary schools regarding Steller. Main focus is before the Ice Cream Social in February and during the March lottery application period.

50th Anniversary Committee: We need a committee leader and members to coordinate with Maria to plan celebrations for our 50th Anniversary in the 2024-2025 school year.

Steller Parent Group Meetings - No Signup Necessary!

ALL PARENTS, STUDENTS, AND STAFF ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND and are entitled to vote at meetings to help shape our school. Steller Parent Group meets the second Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 PM during the school year (9/12, 10/10, 11/14, 12/12, 1/16, 2/13, 3/19, 4/9, and 5/14) by both Zoom and in person. Zoom links will be posted at https://www.stellerschool712.org/main/steller-parent-group-meetings/ prior to the meeting.

ASD Volunteer Application

The Anchorage School District requires all volunteers to apply to volunteer each school year. Please fill out their application form here. It can take 2-3 weeks to approve so we encourage you to complete the application even if you are considering volunteering so that you can spontaneously volunteer!
