Educational kits are available for rent for
$20/week for up to
2 weeks at a time. Cash or check is accepted at the time of the pickup. Pickup and drop-off are typically done at either Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum in San Jose or the Coyote Creek Visitor Center at Anderson Lake in Morgan Hill. After reviewing your request, interpretive program staff will reach out to arrange pickup/drop-off times.

Chitactac Community Village Traveling Trunk -This trunk is designed to support the Chitactac school program but can be checked out by educators throughout the County whether or not they attend the field trip program. The lesson plans and teaching guide support learning standards for 3rd and 4th grade, and content include high-quality replicas of items such as a deer bone rattle, cooking basket, deer pelt, staves game, and much more!
Almaden Quicksilver Traveling Trunk - The lesson plans, materials and teaching guide in the trunk support 4th grade social studies standards. The trunk includes identity kits that allow students to explore Almaden Quicksilver's rich history through the people who lived in the mining communities as well as understand how a local a local source of mercury was important to the success of the gold rush.
