Mindfulness Escape Room
Through this time of crisis, faculty and staff are heroically putting their students first. Adapting classes to online platforms, advising and mentoring students virtually, volunteering to answer phone calls and help with move-out; the list of actions faculty and staff have taken these past few hectic weeks show the vital and  important role educators play in and outside the classroom. This escape room offers a number of mindful practices that can help faculty and staff take care of themselves during this pandemic.  Find 10 minutes (you can do it!) to dedicate to this form. Answer the questions, apply the suggestions, and take care of self. Escape the outside chaos by going with-in!

To "escape" this room, we are going to try a number of breathing techniques. Some participants will be familiar with these techniques, for others it will be completely new. Either way, engage with each exercise. Read all the directions. Commit to each breath. There is a short space under each direction prompt to write how you feel after the exercise. This is not required but it is encouraged. If not in the form, on your own piece of paper or notebook.

To properly benefit from these exercises, find a comfortable seated position. It can be in a chair, on the floor, whatever is most comfortable for you.

This escape room was made by Eyoel Delessa in consultations with the amazing teachers at the Cumberland Valley Martial Arts and Yoga Center, thank you for all the tips.

Sponsored by the Ezra Lehman Memorial Library. Well-being in a time like this is an information need.
