BREN MAR PARK BAND AND STRINGS           Registration for School Year 2020-2021
Dear Parents of 4th and 5th Graders:

This coming school year, your child will have the option of beginning or continuing instruction on a band (5th grade students) or string instrument (4th and 5th grade students).  In preparation for this year’s classes, we will begin registering at the beginning of this school year.

Here is some important information about the Band and Strings Programs at Bren Mar Park:
Band and Strings Classes will meet once every other week, during the regular school day. Additional opportunities for help and practice with the teacher are being considered.
No prior musical experience is necessary—we start right from scratch!
Participation in Band and Strings is free. All books and music are provided. Students provide their own instruments. Most are rented from the local music stores or from the school when available.  Rental prices for most instruments are about $20/month at the stores. (Teachers will send out further information at the start of the school year).
FCPS provides instruments at a reduced fee for students who are eligible for free or reduced price lunch.
•      Participating in the Instrumental Music program is fun and rewarding.  Our Bren Mar Park band and strings ensembles perform during the year and are an integral part of the school.
Many of our band and strings students choose to participate in extra-curricular activities such as Solo and Ensemble Festival, and Area Band and Orchestra.

We look forward to having your children in our Bren Mar Park band and strings programs!
