We will continue to volunteer weekly in-person volunteers would assist in tutoring GED students at CWCJ & La Puerta in English and Spanish. Tutoring is not limited to math, language arts and history are also subjects that need tutors. Tutoring in both Spanish and English is an option for bilingual students. Some special opportunities include being a classroom aid, subbing and event coordination/set-up for GED testing days. A new subject for tutoring this semester is science. Previous tutoring experience is not required. In addition, volunteers can create practice worksheets/SI style worksheets for the GED students for service hours. Hours can be earned in many different ways by assisting at special events including attending events such as Valentines Day, St. Easter and Graduation parties as well as giving rides to others.
MSO decided that all in-person volunteers are able to serve once they are fully vaccinated. This new requirement is to protect both our members and the community in which we serve. We are asking non-vaccinated members to serve online.
