Open Stage: Open Call for Completed Works

Contact Contemporary Dance Festival 2022 calls for completed works by dance and movement artists from Singapore and across Asia to showcase their high-calibre performance works in a mixed bill.

This year, Open Stage looks to resist -and slow- the current of constantly striving to produce new works. We are calling for artists to look back on a completed work you have already laboured on,  and reflect on its journey so far. This culminates in a live performance and a public sharing/dialogue with all participating artists, where you’ll have the opportunity to continue nurturing your regular viewership and invite new audiences into your body of work.

Make sure the video quality is clear as it is a key part of how we will evaluate your assessment. Recordings should not exceed 30 minutes as we are looking for 15-25minute short works. Trailers and rehearsal videos are not allowed. Full length in-studio recordings are acceptable if you do not possess an on-stage recording of the full work.

Link to Technical Rider and background information of the work *
This document should inform the festival team and the production team on the work's existing technical specifications. What to include in no particular order: 1. Title 2. Duration (min 15mins, max 25mins), 3. Synopsis/description of the work (max 200 words) and where it was previously staged 4. Technical info where relevant - site, lighting, sound, props etc  5. A list of the performers in the work with their individual Bios and headshot 6. further elaboration on what the work/idea is & photos (if any). 7. Press kit if relevant. This is a rough structure to follow but if you have an existing technical rider with additional information feel free to submit that. If there are minor changes to existing specifications the artist(s) wishes to have for this restaging, do indicate it in the technical rider. We understand that there will be minor adjustments and allowances made to accommodate for the venue and resources once confirmed.
Some works might be a better fit other platforms in the festival. Would you be keen to participate in/be selected for other other Festival platforms if you have not been selected for Open Stage?
