Audition selection criteria:
1. Ability to sing in tune
2. Clear diction
3. Ability to focus and sing a song from beginning to end
Things to note
1. Those who are selected will be asked to come in for an in-person audition. This will be arranged via whatsapp. Others will be referred to the Starlight Music-Making Programme
2. All singers who are accepted will be on a 3-month probation period before confirmation of a place in the choir.
3. Singers will require at least 6 rehearsals with the choir before a performance opportunity.
About the choir
Starlight Voices is a choir under Voices of Singapore that brings together talented children with special needs to sing and make music. Although fairly new to the choral scene, the choir has performed at the President's Star Challenge 2023 as well as on the premises of Capitol Singapore. Starlight Voices is helmed by Ms Tham Pei Wen who has a special interest in bringing the joy of music to those with special needs. The programme is supported by the Enabling Lives Initiative (ELI) Grant, which is funded by @Tote Board and managed by @SG Enable.
About the conductorThe choir is helmed by
Ms Tham Pei Wen, who has a heart for sharing the joy of music and singing with children with special needs. She holds a Masters of Education, as well as a Masters of Arts from the Kodaly Institute in Hungary.
