The EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) sponsors this event--specifically Chapter 961 out of Rock Hill airport in SC. Young Eagles flights could take place at any airport in the Charlotte area, and your pilot will let you know which one it is (more on this later).

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR YOUNG EAGLES FLIGHT

We will all meet at the airport one morning to fly as a group. You will then be assigned to a volunteer pilot by ground volunteers. All pilots have thousands of flight hours, and the vast majority of them fly airplanes for the major airlines.

Once assigned, your pilot will explain what will happen during the flight. This might include talking about the airplane, reviewing an aeronautical chart (or map), identifying reference points during the flight, and completing a careful “walk around” or preflight inspection of the airplane and identifying the parts that control the airplane.

Once you are ready to go flying, you'll put on your seatbelt and then the pilot will describe the interior of the airplane, including the instrument panel. Pretty soon, you'll taxi out to the runway and takeoff with your pilot!

Once in the air, you’ll see the earth and sky in a new and exciting way. You’ll experience the wonderful freedom of flight that many people only dream about. If you are like most Young Eagles, you’ll remember this experience for the rest of your life. Every single person who flew last year got the opportunity to actually control the airplane for a couple of minutes (for many of you, this will be your first experience actually "piloting").

Most Young Eagles flights last between 15 and 20 minutes. Once back on the ground, there will be additional time for you to ask questions about the flight. Ask away! Your pilot will be happy to tell you more about flying and their particular airplane. And don’t forget, you’ll also receive an official Young Eagles logbook, which is signed by your personal pilot.

This logbook gives you access to all sorts of perks like:
- Free Discovery Flight
- Free Flight Lesson
- Free PPL Test Prep (Sporty's Learn to Fly Course)
- Free Written Endorsement & Exam
- And More!

Finally, for those of you with motion sickness, take medicine before your flight. Usually this condition is overcome when you take control of the plane (Chuck Yeager, a world-renowned test pilot, had the same problem at first, and so did many others).

This whole experience is 100% free. Remember, this isn't something required for the club.
Do you want to take a Young Eagles flight this year? *
Can you join us in the morning (9:00AM) on 10/30 for the flight? If not, please describe why in "other"- I'm curious to know if there is a conflicting event that day.
