All classes are recorded for your review between classes and later on and also if you can't attend in the weekly scheduled time. Classes continue weekly until complete and all doubts/questions are answered.

Ahe Nila Sahila - Odia Abhinaya
Salabega, the venerated Muslim Bhakti poet of Odisha, here calls on Lord Jaggannath, the blue mountain/gem to banish his many problems. The poet emplores Jaggannath/Vishnu/Krishna that  “you rescued the elephant king when he was caught by a crocodile and prayed to you, heard Draupadi’s heartfelt plea in the Kaurav’s court and gave unlimited cloth when they tried to shame her, emerged from the column to save little Prahlada as half-man, half lion Narasimha, I bow at your feet in prayer, a Muslim outcaste, grant me a small space to pray to you outside your temple in Puri and dispel my sufferings as well.” Choreography: Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. Hamsadhwani Pallavi - (Learning any 2 previous pallavis is required to register for this one)
Pallavi is a lyrical elaboration of rhythmic, melodic and movement themes.  It is considered the most graceful and lyrical form of "pure" or abstract dance in the Odissi repertoire.  Life the tender shoots of a tree sprouting and branching, the movement theme is elaborated with rhythmic and melodic variations.  Set to Raga Hamsadhwani and the Odissi 4 beat Ektali rhythm elaborated and divided into 4,5,6,7, and 9.

Das Avatar - suitable for students who have completed basic technique
30 sec abhinaya/30 sec jatis makes this a do-able first abhinaya and audience pleasing choreography for seniors to polish
In this opening canto from Jayadeva's Geeta Govinda, the ten incarnations assumed by Vishnu, Preserver of the Universe.  Following a Darwinian evolution, Vishnu takes birth on earth in the following forms to save creation from destruction: Matsya-The Fish, Kurma-The Tortoise, Varaha-The Boar, Narasimha-The Man-Lion, Vamana- The Dwarf Brahmin, Parasurama-Rama with an Axe, Rama-Destroyer of Demon Ravana, Balarama-Brother of Krishna, Buddha-The Compassionate One, and Kalki-Future Avatar riding a White Horse.
