Dear Nautili Family,

Welcome, Nautili to the 20-21’ school year. I hope this letter finds you all safe and healthy as we continue to adjust to the challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be reopening soon in a virtual platform. Although the pandemic has altered our lives, Sci High is committed and focused on creating invaluable opportunities for our students.

My name is Coach K, and I serve as the Athletic Director for New Orleans Charter Science and Mathematics High School. Last school year was our first as a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA).  Our sports program offers 3 Junior Varsity/Varsity teams over the course of 3 seasons (fall, winter, spring) which includes the following: Volleyball, Basketball (girls/boys), and Track and Field (girls/boys).

As an athletic department, we want to focus on working collaboratively with parents and staff to ensure our students continue to have a sports experience that can be rewarding for everyone during this strenuous situation. We understand that this is not the way that we planned for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, but I believe that we can overcome anything by working together.  The coronavirus has affected athletics across the nation in many ways.  Our coaches and staff are working really hard to find ways to provide our students with the best sports experience to help develop their skills, academic success, and continued athletic development.

We are committed to our student-athletes participating in sports this Fall/Spring within the limitations and guidelines of our local government and health agencies' safety guidelines.  These guidelines are subject to change.  If you are considering allowing your child to participate in fall sports this school year, please observe a few key elements that we must follow.  


Prior to participating in team activities all students and parents must:
- Complete a one-time LHSAA Athletic packet and COVID-19 participation liability waiver form before any activities. *All new students must have an updated physical*
- All coaches and participants must wear a face mask.
- Coaches and participants will be screened before every activity.
- All surfaces and equipment will be sanitized and cleaned.
- Group size limitations per local government and health agencies.
