Recently signed Middle Eastern cooperation agreements are bringing together new and old partners in the shared effort to slow and mediate global issues brought on by climate change. The Middle East plays a critical role in mitigating the move away from fossil-fuel-based energy sources, and the hosting of both upcoming Climate Change Conferences (COP 27 Egypt and COP 28 UAE) demonstrate region’s dedication to these issues.  On June 19th we will be holding the 9th annual Conference in Marine Sciences.  The theme this year is ‘Climate-Ocean-Change’; a one-day, hybrid event dedicated to exploring the relationship between the ocean and climate change, and highlighting UN-SDGs related to climate change and the sea, as well as demonstrating general SDG goals. Scientists, students (high school, undergraduate, and graduate), policymakers, general public, and representatives from the private sector will gather to learn about and discuss this connection as well as highlight solutions on an individual to societal level.
