Are you interested in interning with Student Government at PSU?
The Civic Leadership Development Internship program consists of a weekly, skills-based workshop taught by on-campus staff & student leaders. The internship is paired with hands-on assignments based on your interests and supported by regular mentorship from a leader within student government. This internship was designed to connect and empower up-and-coming leaders with diverse experiences and priorities in order to strengthen student leadership, autonomy, and movements at Portland State University and in the state. Interns may focus their work on one area or multiple ones, in addition to teaming up with fellow interns to take on their own projects. The internship will be completed for 4 credit hours.
The skills and topics addressed in this class are critical to having a successful understanding of the civic and political process. It is the goal of the course that classes, topics, and experiences are not just focused on abstract ideas, but concrete tools to solidify your skills in organizing and as a future leader in civic work.
Field work will be scheduled on an individual basis
Credit is determined by the number of hours students put into the class
6 hours per week = 4 credits
A NOTE ABOUT CLASS STRUCTURE:
This class will be held in-person and will still take place from 2-4pm on Wednesdays. This is not a class where the recording can be watched later—you must attend during class time as the majority of class is doing activities and reflections together as a group. Please plan accordingly!
Priority Deadline: Sunday, December 1st at 11:59 pm
