Sign up for HRD beginners' course
Beginners’ course (BeC) starts September 24th and finishes November 12th. This course consists of weekly skating practices, during which we warm up off skates and learn skating, contact, rules and game play. We also encourage you to officiate in Sunday practice games. You do not need any experience: just let us know you are interested!

The practice times in a nutshell are:

First Sunday 24.9. at 14:30-17.30
Sunday 15.30-17.30
Friday 20-22

The times may be subjects to slight changes. The course will actualise only if at least 10 people sign up. 

After the course you are ready to join HRD and move on to our recreational team. Due to the good skating skills and basic knowledge of roller derby gained in our beginners course, you will have a great background for refereeing, or if you just wish to continue skating (with Rebel Rollers or SuomiSk8Fam for example).

Juniors from age 13 up are welcome to the course as well. However, please note that after the course, Helsinki Roller Derby doesn't currently accept new members younger than 16 years old.

Age limit to course: 13
Course costs: 80€
With the course cost you are getting a total of 13 two hour practice beginners' course to quad skating and roller derby and after the course team training time until the end of year 2023.

The seats are filled in the registration order. If you have registered and are not able to attend, please cancel your registration in advance, as there's often people in queue!

Course information
The weekly practice is held in Viikin monitoimitalo, Maakaari 3, on Sundays at 15.30-17.30 and Fridays at 20-22. 
For the course you will need a roller derby gear. The obligatory protection includes helmet, mouth guard, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards. For new gear, we recommend eg. Suckerpunch Skate Shop. If you prefer to hunt for second hand gear, we recommend joining the Derbykirppis Rollaattori Facebook group. We do have a small storage of lendable gear, please state on this form if you want to borrow. You will need to buy a mouthguard yourself.
