+ Exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative technological solutions to real-world healthcare challenges facing the local community or developing countries.
+ Hands-on design and prototyping experience, which looks great on a resume!
+ Collaborations with students from a variety of engineering majors (biomedical, mechanical, electrical, computer science, and more).
+ Potential to enter into global EWH design competition, with prizes and recognition for winners.
+ Become a member of the U of A EWH community, which plans to host electronic kit building activities, social events, and community service opportunities.
Timeline
The deadline for the group device prototype and report is May 30th, 2023. We plan to have teams meet for about 30 minutes once a week starting in mid October 2022, and members are encouraged to spend some time outside of the weekly meetings brainstorming the project. However, the teams are accommodating to members with varying levels of time availability. The goal is to map out designs and perform CAD modeling in Fall 2022 and hopefully begin to construct physical prototypes in Spring 2023.
Cost
To help cover design team fees and supplies, we plan to request $10 dues from design team members by the end of the Fall 2022 semester. This also covers the dues to be an official EWH member, so you do not need to pay any additional fees to be a member of the chapter.
