Organization Circles Inquiry Form
Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) is providing opportunities for the greater Chicago community to confront racism by participating in racial healing circles. A Racial Healing Circle is a comprehensive, community-based process to unearth and jettison the deeply held, and often unconscious, beliefs created by racism. Racial Healing Circles not only build solidarity, but foster mutual aid and resources among community members.

WHAT IS RACIAL HEALING?

Racial healing recognizes the need to acknowledge and tell the truth about past wrongs created by individual and systemic racism and address the present consequences. It is an experience and a tool that can facilitate trust and build authentic relationships that bridge divides created by real and perceived differences. We believe it is essential that before transforming systems and structures we must first transform ourselves.

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RACIAL HEALING CIRCLE?

A Racial Healing Circle is a two-hour session led by training Practitioners consisting of both group interactions and smaller, more intimate conversations between two partners called dyads. The experience relies on intentional listening. It can be an emotional experience and even transformational for participants as it can unearth truths and conscious and unconscious biases. It can also raise the awareness, consciousness, compassion, and empathy among those who participate. Racial Healing Practitioners ensure that these circles are confidential, safe spaces for participants to have truthful conversations with one another.

IN PARTNERSHIP: 

Our hope is to design racial healing circles in collaboration and relationship with you. We will review your form and get back to you within 72 hours to set up an initial call to begin to dream about the circles, process, and needs. Ideally, racial healing circles are part of a larger vision and ways of being for racial healing, racial justice, and racial equity that organizations are in the process of emerging. Racial healing circles can strengthen, launch, deepen and strengthen relationships to support the charge of deeper policy, systems, and cultural changes within the organization. 

Typically it takes us six to eight weeks from the initial conversation to design the circle methodology, execute a scope of work contract, and secure and train our practitioners. Many of our practitioners have their own independent consultant practices and may be able to support in deepening racial healing, racial justice, and racial equity practices across your organization.
