GSNE presents a targeted journal club on anti-racist evaluation and social change. This broad-aimed group will work to discuss, learn, and engage with various articles related to building anti-racist evaluation practices and evaluation’s place in movements of social change.  This group will primarily focus on issues in the U.S. context but will occasionally engage with international perspectives as well.

Group Norms: Given the sensitive nature of the journal club topic, we have established group norms. These are a working draft of the group norms and an further suggestions can be provided at any time.
1. Listen actively respect others when they are talking
2. Do not be afraid to respectfully challenge one another by asking questions. This can be done by focusing on challenging ideas.
3. Acknowledge your own biases, positionality, and perspectives that you bring to the group. Recognize that we may not be fully aware of those biases and come with an open mind about unknown biases, positionality, or perspectives.
4. Participate to your fullest ability and share the responsibility of including all voices in the discussion. Be aware if you have been dominating the conversation and try to hold back and invite others in.
5. This is a closed space, general ideas can be shared outside of the group, but refrain from detailing specific individuals’ comments and responses as they may be personal.
6. Recognize that discomfort will be felt and that we are all on the journey together. Learning, sharing, and changing perspectives is difficult. Make space for both for yourself and others
7. Assume good intent. If someone says something, and it comes across wrong, don't assume they meant it to be mean.

Do you have any suggestions for changes to group norms OR additional group norms you would like to see included?
