What needs to happen before you are comfortable gathering for in-person worship?

A majority of the population should be vaccinated.

A vaccine must be available.

COVID-19 rates must be low and dropping in Alameda County.

As long as the county lifts restrictions, I am comfortable gathering.

Current research* suggests that COVID-19 is an airborne virus that is easily spread through singing and speech. With this in mind, it's likely that we will have to limit singing, instrumentalists, and call-and-response readings for quite some time. Given these restrictions, what is your preference for worship services:

I would prefer to keep attending online where I can participate in the music and litany.

I may be less likely to attend in person but would do so at times.

I want to attend in person regardless of these restrictions.

If we return to in-person worship before a vaccine is available, we expect our gatherings will look quite different. In addition to the possible reduction of singing/speech, we anticipate a need for all to wear face masks, protocols allowing 6 feet of separation between households, temperature taking stations, and sign-ins to enable quick contact tracing in the event of an exposure. In addition, we may not be able to offer childcare through our nursery although children are always welcome to attend church services. Under these conditions, do you anticipate you would:

Attend church weekly if in-person services are available

Attend in-person occasionally and online occasionally if we have the resources to provide both options

Attend online-only if the option is available

If it were possible to use the sanctuary as a place of quiet prayer and reflection on Sunday mornings, during a time of heavy restrictions as described in the previous question, would you use the sanctuary in this way? (This may allow us to use our limited resources to keep online services running.)
