Residents are currently restricted to utilizing one company for hauling their residential curbside trash, as dictated by the Craven County franchise agreement with GFL. However, residents feel strongly that they should have the freedom to choose a different waste management provider. This desire for choice is hindered by their community's participation in the Inter-local Waste Program, which, by extension, limits residents' options through Craven County Ordinance Chapter 32 Section 102. Residents believe they should have the opportunity to select the waste management services that best suit their needs and preferences. State Statute 153A-122, The city (River Bend, Fairfield Harbour & Trent Woods) may by resolution withdraw its permission from Craven County Ordinance and give the residents alternative options for curbside trash removal.
