Hello! We've been fielding questions from parents/guardians about bus transportation for their kids to attend our After School Programs. 

PLEASE NOTE: Updated August 2022
1)  Kala does not offer bus transportation to the after school program. The BUSD Transportation Department (https://www.berkeleyschools.net/departments/transportation/)) informed us that BUSD provides LIMITED transportation for students to attend school programs in Berkeley. Currently, ONLY students from CRAGMONT, BAM, OXFORD and WASHINGTON elementary schools can request bus transportation to Kala. If your child takes the bus, they will be met  by a Kala staff member at the BUSD bus stop on San Pablo Ave & Grayson Street  and walked to our site.

2) If your child attends CRAGMONT, BAM, OXFORD or WASHINGTON, please contact youtharts@kala.org to request your child to be added to the bus transportation request form. Kala will submit this form at least a week before your child starts the program. BUSD has limited seats available and cannot guarantee that your child will be able to take the bus.

3) As far as we know, there is NO BUSD bus transportation to Kala from other schools. Please check in with https://www.berkeleyschools.net/departments/transportation/ to confirm.

4) If you are seeking transportation for a child to attend Kala's program,  and are interested in connecting with families also facing transportation challenges and would like to help each other out, please fill out this survey. We'd like to collect information from families who have already registered or are thinking of registering their child in our after school program.
