Louisville Girls Leadership (LGL) creates a space in which girls from across the city can enhance their journey of self-development through education, advocacy, and action. The experience leaves them with critical skills and instills the necessary confidence to tap their vast potential and, in turn, use it as a source of empowerment to make positive change in the city.
Sophomores from every public and private high school in Jefferson County are invited to apply to the LGL Class of 2020-20. Up to forty (40) sophomores will be selected from the applicant pool to join the program and embark on this learning journey for the upcoming year! LGL meetings typically occur one Sunday per month, 2-6pm, in Downtown Louisville. In addition to meeting the schedule requirements, the ideal student might possess some of the traits listed below:
- A student who may not have had the opportunity to lead in the past, but has the zeal and potential to do so
- A responsible work ethic and dedication to her commitments
- An interest in developing communication skills and working with diverse groups
- A cultural or community leader within her school or other parts of Jefferson County
- A strong desire to strengthen her leadership skills and join a network of other female leaders
Submitting a recommendation for a student can make a huge difference in a student self-identifying as a leaders. It also allows the Louisville Girls Leadership team to better understand how a student would benefit from the LGL mission. A recommendation does not guarantee a student entry into LGL. Please direct nominees to
www.LouisvilleGirlsLeadership.org to access the student application form.
Recommendations are due Friday, September 20 by 11:59pm.
Please email Kelsie Smithson at Kelsie@LouGirlsLead.org with questions.
