In response to all the negativity going on legislatively and in general against the LGBTQ+ community around the country, for the past several months, Rev. Sammie Evans from PACT (People Acting in Community Together) has been convening a group of people in collaboration with the Billy DeFrank Center to talk about what can we do to respond.
We have explored what community organizing is and how people can come together to share their concerns and work in solidarity to make positive change in our community, city, county, and beyond. Together, we seek to identify common goals and learn skills for working with public officials to create solutions to problems that affect our families and neighborhoods.
The community organizing cycle always begins with listening, which is why the Billy DeFrank Organizing Committee is inviting all members of our community to participate–as they are willing and able to–in our listening campaign.
