Pre-Kindergarten Fee Refund Form
Dear North Reading Full Day and Half Day Pre-Kindergarten Parents and Guardians:

First and foremost, we hope that all is well with you and your families during this challenging and uncertain time. I know these are difficult times and practicing social distancing is sometimes easier said than done. We are reaching out to you today to provide you with additional information regarding the District’s decision to issue partial refunds for our full and half day Pre-Kindergarten families for services during the final quarter of the fiscal year. As you know these services have been impacted due to the school closure period that began on Friday, March 13, 2020 and what will now last through the end of this school year.

 As we continue to proceed into the different phases of remote learning, we are continuing with learning and teaching at all levels throughout the District.  Our principals and curriculum leaders are working daily with our preschool teachers and paraprofessionals.  We can assure you that our preschool teachers and paraprofessionals are committed to working with your child and with all of you. With that being said, and recognizing that this has been very different from the traditional educational process and understanding the financial challenges many families are faced with, the School District is prepared to offer the following refund amounts to families.  

Full Day Amount
$725.00
Half Day Amount
$362.50

The District will be issuing a refund in the amount of $725 to each full day family who have paid in full this school year, which represents a 50% discount off the final $1,450 payment and $362.50 to each half day family which represents a 50% discount off the final $725 payment which was due by March 1, 2020 for services over the final quarter of the school year from April through June.  Please realize the School District does rely on the revenue received from these tuition payments to assist with fully funding the salaries for staff working in this program. The staff are continuing to deliver remote services and are being fully compensated. The District in setting the refund amounts sought a balance between what it can afford and while offering a fair and equitable amount to families.  Given the District continues to incur the full costs associated with this program, if any family wishes to donate all or a portion of their refund amount below back to the District you may indicate that on the form provided and the District will provide you with a tax deductible receipt for such a donation. If you could take a few minutes to complete the below questions, so that we may have the information needed to take the appropriate course of action it would be appreciated. Please complete this refund form no later than Friday, May, 15th.

Refunds will then be processed by the Business Office beginning Friday, May 22. It will take a few weeks for the Business Office and Town hall to process all of the required refunds so please be patient during this process.  It may take a few weeks to process all of the refunds so please be patient as the Business Office and Town hall process the refund checks.
