ECF WES Hand Receipt & Acceptable Use
SOCSD has procured Chromebooks to be used for educational purposes at home through a federal grant called Emergency Connectivity Funds (ECF). Chromebooks are available per student for K - 7th graders if they have a need for a chromebook at home.  These devices must stay and be used primarily for off campus (at home) use.  Please complete the form to receive a device for your child.

District Guidelines
1. Use of the listed equipment is to conduct educational assignments & approved school activities by the student only; use of school district equipment for business, for-profit or non-profit activities is not allowed.
2. No software may be installed on or removed from any computer or equipment without specific permission from the Technology Department. 
3. No software may be copied from the computer or equipment and placed on any other computer/device.
4. If student withdraws from school, the device and charger must be returned. Please return the equipment in clean condition.  Food and drinks should not be placed near the equipment.
5. The student is not liable for equipment problems that are determined by the Technology Department to be due to normal use.  Any problem should be immediately reported to the School.
6. The parent/guardian are responsible for repair of the device.  There is no warranty provided for this device.  Please contact the school if the device is damaged or lost through accidental harm, misuse, theft, fire, etc.

Handling and Care

1. Keep device free of any writing, drawing, stickers, or labels that are not applied by Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District. 
2. Use the device on a flat, stable surface; Wipe/Clean surfaces with a clean, dry soft cloth. 
3. Do not have food or drink around the device. 
4. Do not touch screens with pencils, pens, or sharp objects. 
5. Do not leave the device exposed to direct sunlight or near any heat or moisture source for extended periods of time. 
6. Do not leave the device unattended. 
7. Do not place the device in a bag with sharp objects, food/drink, or anything that could damage the device.

I also agree that I understand that individuals to whom a SOCSD device or account is issued is responsible, at all times, for its proper use. If the device is damaged as a result of irresponsible behavior, the parent/guardian is responsible for repair costs (at a local computer repair shop). I understand that any violations of these regulations are unethical, potentially illegal, and may result in and constitute a criminal offense. Should I commit any violation, my access privileges may be revoked, and disciplinary action may be taken up to and including suspension/expulsion (student) or possible criminal charges. As the parent or legal guardian of the student signing below, I consent to my student’s use of technology resources in support of their academic studies within SOCSD schools. I grant permission for him/her to access networked computer services such as electronic mail (e-mail), learning management systems (Google Classroom and/or Canvas) and the Internet. I further understand that deliberate misuse by the student resulting in hardware damage will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
